Retrospective Observations of Cataract Surgery Patients

Abstract
The author analysed statistically of 220 cataract operations performed in opthalmological deparfment of Ewha Womans University Hospital, each extraction performed under similar conditions iut¢¥using various, operative techniques, and clinical observation¢¥ are summarized as follows
1. The cataract extraction have been done for 94 males and 106 females of the 200 patients.
There were no difference in incidence between both sexes.
2. The types of cataracts were : Senile 66.00 Traumatic 9.50 Complicated 6.50% Congenital 4.50%
Others 14.50 %
3. The incidence of complications during operation Vitreous loss 2.73% Capsule rupture 4.53 %
Iris prolapse 0.45%
4. Early postoperative complications were : Striate keratitis 53.63% Hyphema 16.81
Flat Ant. Chamber 12.27 Conjunctival bleb. forming 10.00% Drown up pupil 7.72
Hyaloid prolapse 4.540/o Post. Synechiae 5.00% Iris prolapse 1.81 floTraumatic uveitis 1.36
5. Late postoperative complications were : Glaucoma D. 45% Retinal detachment 0.45 % Uveitis 0.45%
Vitreous opacity 0.457o
6. The average visual acuity after the cataract extraction was 0. 5, and among which 134 eyes (60.90 %) regained 0. 5-1.0 visual acuity.
